The Park has been historically lightly developed. JCPR developed the campground in 2023 and is currently open for reservations. JCPR was significantly assisted in this project by the County Commissioners (via bond funds) and the County Council (special appropriation). The engineering firm RLM did great work for the Department and the project was completed by Bradshaw Building Specialties, along with the main sub-contractors, Lisle Construction and ETC Industries.
JCPR made significant improvements also and will soon be completing fire ring installation, picnic tables, informational kiosks, new signs, land scaping etc.
JCPR has partnered with the IDNR to create the public access site. The access site has a concrete boat ramp and ample parking for trailers.
Lake is a nine acre lake. Aquatic species are surveyed and stocked by the IDNR, if needed. Park is 127 acres with some older stands of timber and a much newer growth section.
Park has one open shelter. Shelter is used first come first serve but can be reserved from this website or the office.
The trail system has been revisited and 1.5 miles have been cleared in 2023. Additional trails will be looked into after construction is complete. JCPR is leaving flagging tape up for 2023 and will likely mark the trails in 2024. Lake loop (a close perimeter trail) development has started and this short, yet nice addition may come online in 2024. Volunteers are welcome!
Playgrounds are currently present, as is a basketball court, and sand volleyball. A new playground complex was added in 2018. New basketball goals are to be added in 2024.
